Save Cow

"Gho Samrakshanam's importance was realized by Moghul rulers Akbar, Shajahan, Mohammed Shah, and Shah Alam. There were strict ban on Cow Slaughter and rules in place for Cow Protection during their times. Not too long ago, Afganisthan Chief Amir had banned Cow Slaughter in Afganistan and did Gho Samrakshanam (Cow Protection)." - Pujya Shri Kanchi Maha Periyava

The following content will help us realize why Gho Matha Samrakshanam (Cow Protection) is a Personal, Social, Communal, Economic, & Global Problem. Let us all unite together for this great cause before these noble creatures become extinct.

Gho Matha Samrakshanam - Introduction & Background

1. What is Gho Matha Samrakshanam?

Gho Matha Samrakshanam means “Cow Protection”.  HH Kanchi Maha Periyava tells us it is actually the other way around whereby Gho Matha nurtures us big time right from our infant days, providing us with various essential Vedic & Dairy products. We pay the merchant for cow’s products. The merchant sucks the cow high & dry, treats it miserably before sending her for slaughter. We should do our best to stop this. We all OWE a great debt to Gho Matha that needs be paid back with great reverence for generations.

2. Why is Gho Matha Samrakshanam ‘Extremely Critical’ at this time?

Bharatha Desam is the #1 beef exporter in the world, something we all should be terribly ashamed of. If the status quo continues, cows, and all its related breeds will become extinct in no time.  Check out the Current State, Horrifying Facts, & Dwindling Numbers of Gho Matha's in Bharatha Desam. Scroll below to see the facts and figures.

Not too long ago, every home had a few cows and life was very peaceful. Urban, Corporate, Western Culture, Grazing lands turning into multi-storey buildings, and Migration left Gho Matha’s lurching horribly. In the long run, more than Gho Matha’s we will be the sore losers, huge in fact, if we do not act immediately.

3. Where and How to Start?

Our mission should be to ‘Enable and Empower Ghosala’s to rescue cows from slaughter’. Cow Protection movement should spread like wild fire, flourish, and prosper. It is NOT all about money. Getting Awareness of the current situation & spreading the message is very critical. More importantly, help ‘Needy’ Ghosala’s on a ‘Consistent’ basis. Without our support they cannot do it.

“Gho Matha is the abode of all Devathas. All gods reside in her. She is Goddess Mahalakshmi. Government, at best, can only pass rule against cow slaughter but it is up to all of us to take care of her well-being. Ishwara is watching every move of us. We are bound to offer at least a handful of grass to Gho Matha every day. There is NO Greater Punniyam (Meritorious Deed) than doing Gho Dhanam or Gho Samrakshanam.” - Pujya Shri HH Kanchi Maha Periyava

“People are interested in doing Utsavam, Bikshavandanam, Kanakabhishekam, Peetarohanam, etc. for me and sing my praises. The same gets published in the media. Is there any point in this? Our goal should be to execute what is told in the Sastras. That is the real Utsavam, Bikshavandanam, Peetarohanam, and Kanakabhishekam for me.” - Pujya Shri HH Kanchi Maha Periyava
